Back in the studio

It feels like forever since I could again wield my paintbrush, and longer still since I could sit down to write a post.  It has been turbulent….Image

As you can see, I decided pouring paint over my troubles was the best way to go.  Covers the goo and cheers me up in one go.

Somewhere in the past few weeks, spring turned up….then left….came back….my garden is lush but I’m back in a sweatshirt today.  No complaints, though, as it is another sparkling clear day outside.  Here is my latest painting:

I started it while teaching class.  I really struggled with it, too.  I think painting it with people watching freaked me out. Every time I teach I learn so much too.  What a wonderful experience, even though I get so nervous I secretly hope nobody will show up.  Nine women did, and we had a blast together all 5 weeks.  I feel so blessed.

So, let’s see.  Class, over.  Unauthorized charges to bank account, dealt with.  Car…..well.  Today I took it to an auto body shop whose website claims they love Bugs.  The very nice, if richly tattooed young man, looked it over, listened to it, then admitted sotto voice that he’s now driving a Ford.  So there ya go.

  1. So sorry to hear about your troubles. Sometimes life is difficult that way, isn’t it? I love how you were so nervous about teaching your class that you wished no one would show up–and then had a great experience anyway. I do love your painting. So vibrant and full of life. I bet being able to create something so beautiful helps with all the troubles.

  2. I’m sorry, too! I hope you get your car fixed.

I would be the same way about teaching a class. No matter how prepared I was. I would be thinking, “they’re gonna figure out I don’t know what I’m doing!” Of course, in the end it would be all fine. The good thing is that each time gets more comfortable. I hope you’re going to do it again !

  3. …and on the grind goes….I understand how you feel.
That said, I am so inspired by your latest painting! It’s beautiful! Nice work!

    1. Thanks Anne! Yeah, on and on. Today I came across a nice thought: “I’ll try again tomorrow.”
