I don’t have much to say today~ I just wanted to send out a light-hearted greeting.

  1. I love this little bird. The colors are beautiful. It gives me a feeling of it being stained glass.

    1. Thank you Deborah! As my co-conspirator in the studio says, I had a party on the canvas 🙂

  2. I see you are exploring new avenues; this is very nice.

    1. Yes, I’m having a good time in my studio. This is the third iteration of this bird. It was fun to do it this way so I’ll be looking for other images to give this treatment to. I’m so glad you like it!

      1. I am looking forward to seeing the other paintings!

I will have Fridays off starting in December… can we set up a play date? 😃

    1. YES! What fun. Have I told you where to find me? My gallery is across from Emil’s on Center St. in Grayslake. I try to be there between 1-5 M_F but it varies.

      1. Let’s try for Friday 12/2 – I will email you my digits =-)

      2. Sounds good 🙂

  8. Hi Melissa – a lovely bird indeed. This style looks a little different – nice. Hope you are well. Hugs your way. xo kim

    1. Hugs back, Kim! Thank you. I had such a good time with my little bird. First I painted it as a straight portrait, then I painted it as a dark silhouette on a basket, and finally this way. Definitely something I want to explore further.

  9. Definitely different. No need to say much when the painting does the talking.

    1. That’s nice, Steve. Thank you.

  10. It’s lovely, and reminds me of art projects we did when I was much younger. All I remember is that colored tissue paper was involved, and that the result was very much stained-glass like. This one shimmers and shines with the same simplicity and light.

  11. Thank you! I used “mixing white” to cover the background, and I thought it looked like tissue paper too. I’ll probably do more because it was fun.

  12. Beautiful, Melissa! I love all those colours.

  13. Thank you so much, Pete!

  14. What an exciting twist to your explorations in style! It’s very sweet and playful.

    1. Thank you Gunta 🙂
